Torlon®
Torlon® is a polyamide-imide which exhibits exceptional physical and chemical properties. It has superior resistance to elevated temperatures. Withstanding continuous exposure at 450°/500°F and severe stress conditions provides better compressive strength and higher impact resitance than most other high performance thermoplastic materials. Its extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion and high creep resistance provide excellent dimensional stability over a wide temperature range. Chemically, Torlon® is resistant to attack by aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated and fluorated hydrocarbons, and most inorganic salt and acid solutions.
Torlon® 4301
Retaining the same basic physical and chemical properties as 4203, Torlon® 4301 is designed for bearing and wear applications such as non-lubricated bearings, seals, valves, and compressor parts, piston parts, and bearing cages. It is used where high strength, resistance to wear, resistance to elevated temperature, and sovent resistance are important application requirements. Torlon® 4301 has a very low coefficient of friction and exhibits little or no slip-stick in bearing applications.
Torlon® 4203
Exhibiting superior electrical insulation at elevated temperatures, Torlon® 4203 is primarily designed for structural, electrical, and electronic applications. In addition, Torlon® 4203 displays excellent resistance to radiation.
Torlon® 4XG
Torlon® 4XG is 30% glass-reinforced. If offers high rigidity, retention of stiffness, a low expansion rate, and improved load carrying capabilities. This grade is well suited for applications in the electrical/electronic, business equipment, aircraft, and aerospace industries.
Torlon® 4XCF
Torlon® 4XCF is 30% carbod fiber-reinforced. If offers exceptional stiffness, non-abrasive wear performance, and the lowest coefficient of thermal expansion.
